Virtual Academy Live Streamed Classes
Our regular weekly movement classes, specialty topic monthly workshops, and mystery school offerings are now available online! Cypress Pillar has leapt into the future to bring our dynamic instructors and their course offerings to the World Wide Web, and make our exciting educational programs available globally. Our Virtual Academy is headed up by Misha, who has been teaching classes via both streaming and recorded videos on a variety of subjects since 2016. Misha makes sure our CP Virtual Academy team members know that virtual classes are simply an extension of our live offerings, and as such you can expect the same great instruction and personal attention that you’d receive if you were right there with us in the studio. Our live stream classes are supported through Zoom, a free online conferencing platform. Please see the FAQ below for tech and registration information. Virtual Academy Recorded Video Classes
Our regular live streamed classes and workshops are, at times, recorded. While we are not able to make every weekly class available for future downloading and viewing, we do make every attempt to do so. Some of these classes are filmed on location around the world - in our library you will find offerings from all across Florida, in other states like California and Oregon, and beyond in places like Japan and Morocco. Videos are available for a one time fee to purchase a specific recording, or you can join our library for a small fee and receive access to the entire library. Our recorded video classes are currently supported through Youtube and Vimeo, both of which are available for free. Our pre-recorded video library is growing; please check back often as we will have more and more options available.
Frequently Asked Questions About Our Virtual Academy
Is there any extra cost for Virtual Academy?
There is no additional fee for our live streamed Virtual Academy classes; we strive to keep them affordable and as such offer them at the same price as our regular weekly classes and they include all of the elements of those weekly classes like handouts, access to our private class Facebook groups, etc. For our video classes, they are available as a one time fee or can a monthly membership library pass can be purchased for a small fee. The virtual library is under construction and will launch soon!
What do I need to have tech-wise for virtual classes?
The live streaming and video classes can be accessed via a computer and most wifi enabled devices. We recommend having a steady and strong internet connection and, while a phone can absolutely be used for streaming, we suggest using a computer if possible so that you will be able to see clearly. While you do not need to be on camera during a streaming event, we recommend using your phone or computer camera so that our instructors can see you and offer feedback. We use Zoom, which is a free platform, for live stream videos and Vimeo or Youtube, both of which have free plans, for recorded material. Zoom is available either via an app for your mobile device or computer, or you can go to the Zoom webpage and use it through the browser. When you access Zoom, you will just need to be able to click on the link to enter the classroom. You do not need to wear or bring anything special; you can simply show up however you’d like in the comfort of your own home. If you have a tech question, please contact Misha.
How do I register and pay for the Virtual Academy?
Currently Misha handles our Virtual Academy, so all you need to do is contact her and she will get you registered and send you information on how to pay for class. We accept PayPal, credit card, and other cash apps. Once you register she will contact you for payment, and once payment is received you will have access to the site. Please note: We strongly suggest that classes are purchased no later than one hour before the class; we cannot guarantee access to live streams after this time.
How do I access the Virtual Academy?
Once your payment for class is received you will receive a Zoom meeting link (streaming classes) or information on how to access the video library (video classes). When it’s time for the class, simply click on the Zoom link to enter. Zoom will prompt you on how to gain access to the classroom.
Do the Cypress Pillar Instructors offer feedback and answer questions, or is it simply watch and learn?
Absolutely! Our goal with these virtual classes is to provide access to a unique and interesting array of educational offerings. Our instructors strive to make these experiences inclusive and interactive, and hope to have a virtual space that is as close to an in-person class as possible. Class participation is certainly not mandatory, but is very welcome and we encourage our virtual students to ask questions and participate in all elements of the class.
Can I share my virtual classes with another student or group of people?
While we understand the desire to cost share, we request that you please do not share recorded videos, or live stream events. Because our instructors work very hard to make dynamic offerings, we want to make sure they are compensated fairly for their time and effort. We absolutely encourage groups of people getting together to take our classes, however we request that each individual attending please register and pay for their spot just as they would in a live setting.
